The special interest of the professorship lies in the environmental avionic functions and their effects on platform design and system concepts of aircraft. Such functions are especially necessary when complex mission tasks have to be carried out in the military as well as in the civil sector. Particularly against the background of the introduction of unmanned systems and the associated high level of automation in the field of command and mission systems, the sensor-based and computer-aided interpretation of environmental events is coming to the fore.
The institute conducts research projects for national and international clients, using extensive simulation environments and a range of appropriately equipped unmanned flight systems.
