Research at the institute focuses on satellite navigation in safety critical applications, integrated positioning and navigation systems, flight measurement techniques, flight guidance technologies for co-operative air traffic management as well as questions of safety in aviation. This includes investigations into pilot/driver assistance systems as well as anthropotechnics and humanmachine interface design. Two research aircraft (DO-128 and Cessna 172) are available as flight test platforms, both featuring high-performance data acquisition/processing facilities, advanced avionics equipment, experimental sensor systems and actuators. The experimental setup is complementedby different cockpit simulators - A320 and Grob 115 - and the Galileo-Testbed "aviationGate".
